The Eight Applications of Internet of Things in Transportation

Traffic is considered to be one of the most promising applications for all applications in the Internet of Things. With the development of urbanization, traffic problems have become more and more serious, and traditional solutions have been unable to meet new traffic problems. Therefore, intelligent transportation has emerged. Intelligent transportation refers to the use of advanced information technology, data transmission technology and computer processing technology to effectively integrate into the transportation management system, so that people, vehicles and roads can closely cooperate to improve the transportation environment to improve resource utilization. Here summarize the following eight application scenarios:

1.The smart bus

Through intelligent technologies such as RFID and sensing, the intelligent public bus can know the location of the bus in real time and realize the functions of cornering and route reminding. At the same time, combined with the operating characteristics of the bus, the intelligent dispatching system can be used to plan and dispatch the lines and vehicles to achieve intelligent scheduling.

2.Sharing bicycles

The shared bicycle is uploaded to the shared service platform through a smart lock with GPS or NB-IoT module to achieve accurate positioning of the vehicle and real-time control of the vehicle running status.

3.The car network

Using advanced sensors, RFID and camera equipment, the environment around the vehicle and the vehicle's own information are collected, and the data is transmitted to the on-board system to monitor the vehicle's operating status in real time, including fuel consumption and vehicle speed.

4.Charging pile

The sensor collects the information of the charging pile power, status monitoring and charging pile position, and transmits the collected data to the cloud platform in real time, and connects with the cloud platform through the APP to realize unified management and other functions.

5.Intelligent traffic lights

Through a radar device installed at the intersection, real-time monitoring of the number of intersections, distance and speed of the intersection, while monitoring the number of pedestrians and the weather conditions outside, dynamically adjusting the signal of traffic lights, improving the traffic rate of intersections, reducing the traffic lights Put time, and ultimately improve the carrying capacity of the road.

6.Car electronic identification

The automobile electronic logo, also known as the electronic license plate, automatically and non-contactly completes the identification and monitoring of the vehicle through RFID technology, and connects the collected information with the traffic control system to realize the supervision of the vehicle and solve the problems of traffic accidents and escape.

7.Mart parking

In the field of urban transportation, due to limited parking resources and low parking efficiency, smart parking came into being. Smart parking is based on parking space resources. It is equipped with geomagnetic sensors, cameras and other devices to realize license plate recognition, parking space search and reservation, and automatic payment using APP.

8, high-speed non-sensitive charges

The license plate information is recognized by the camera, and the license plate is bound to WeChat or Alipay. According to the mileage of the driving, the fee is automatically charged through WeChat or Alipay, and the non-inductive charging is realized, the traffic efficiency is improved, and the waiting time of the vehicle is shortened.

New technologies represented by the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, etc. can effectively solve problems such as traffic congestion, limited parking resources, and unreasonable changes in traffic lights, and finally enable intelligent transportation. According to the actual application situation, this paper briefly introduces the eight scenarios of the Internet of Things technology applied in the transportation field.
