German operator strengthens cooperation with Huawei: allows 5G equipment to be provided
According to the German Business Daily, Deutsche Telekom is working to strengthen its business partnership with Huawei. Deutsche Telekom operates several projects in the European market and has always relied on Huawei's 5G network, broadband expansion, cloud services and TV products.
A Deutsche Telekom spokesman denied any special dependence on Huawei, and Huawei stated that the company never concealed its close relationship with Deutsche Telekom.
Prior to this, Deutsche Telekom had stated that the operator had activated the use of 12,000 5G antennas and expected that 40,000 5G antennas would be put into use by the end of 2020. At present, its 5G service is available in more than 1,000 cities and towns, and Deutsche Telekom plans to cover 50% of Germany's population by the end of July, that is, about 40 million people. This is faster than its previous coverage goal by the end of 2020.
According to an internal document evaluation of Deutsche Telekom, if the German Federal Government opposes the use of Huawei’s 5G technology, the company is expected to lose at least 3 billion euros; and the elimination of Huawei products already installed in key parts of the 4G network may require up to 5 Time of year.
